– Governor Rochas Okorocha has denied claims that he has dumped the ruling APC party for the Action Alliance

– Okorocha stressed that his faith in President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party remained unshaken

– The governor said the rumours emanated from all those who stole the gubernatorial tickets of their parties for the 2019 elections

The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has denied rumours that he has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Action Alliance (AA).

The governor issued the denial in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, on Wednesday, January 2, Daily Trust reports.

TrackNews gathers that Okorocha expressed amusement over stories claiming that he had dumped the APC; stressing that his faith in President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party remained unshaken.

The statement read: “The amusing tale has been trending on the social media for days now. And those behind the balderdash said that the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has announced his defection from APC to AA to join his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, during the New Year Crossover Service in Government House.”

According to the governor, the stories emanated from “all those who stole the guber tickets of their parties for the 2019 election and have become stranded and looking for who to blame for their woes or misfortune.”

He continued: “They know this fact. Imo people do not support anything stolen. That was the reason they dealt with 419ers in 1997.

“It was out of frustration that those concerned came up with the story of Governor Okorocha leaving APC for AA, which is not true.”

Recall that TrackNews previously reported that Governor Rochas Okorocha dismissed rumours that he was mulling defecting from the All Progressives Congress over the fallout of the party’s governorship primaries in the state.

Okorocha spoke with State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said he was in the Presidential Villa to clear the air that the presidency was behind what Adams Oshiomhole, the APC national chairman, was doing in some of the states.
