Suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen on Monday said rumours of his purported resignation were simply fake news.

Rumours of Onnoghen’s resignation had been reported in some online news portal.

President Muhammadu Buhari had suspended Onnoghen on Friday and appointed Justice Tanko Mohammed, as Acting CJN.

A statement issued by Awassam Bassey, Onnoghen’s media aide said the purported resignation was fake news being circulated by mischief makers.

According to him, mischief makers were still circulating this as there was no truth in it whatsoever.

“The Hon CJN, Hon Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen, GCON, has not resigned,” he said in the statement.
