TRACKING___Mr. Lawal has been treated with a great deal of unfairness and the government know this. The Nigerian police arrested the 77 Year old for insulting President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Bello Masari.
According to Lawal he insulted the president because his relative was slaughtered because of 15 cows.
“I Insulted them( President Buhari and Governor Masari) because I went to the village and found out that my brother has been slaughtered like a ram, because of 15 cows, coming back I was asked about the government”
Lawal’s brother was slaughtered by unknown men because of 15 cows he insulted Buhari and Masari for their failure to bring those that killed his brother to book.
Instead of investigating and arresting his brothers killers, the Nigerian police went ahead to arrest him for daring to “insult Buhari”. Reports show that bandits have been attacking villages after villages killing defenseless civilians and none of those bandits have been successfully arrested.
What has happened with Mr. Lawal is very unfortunate, for a citizen to criticize the government for failing to secure lives and property is absolutely not a crime. It is his right, Infact an NGO Socio – Economic Right And Accountability Project(SERAP) has threatened legal action if Mr.Lawal izala is not released soon enough.
