It was earlier reported that a 35-year-old man, Tope Olorunfemi was lynched by aggrieved mob in Akure, Ondo State after he allegedly crushed four persons to death. Olorunfemi was accused of being an internet fraudster and he was thereby beaten to death by the irate mob.

According to Vanguard , the mother of the deceased, Mrs Mojisola Olorunfemi explained that her son was a registered Uber Driver and his father bought the vehicle he was using for his Uber driving business for him. She dismissed the rumor that her son was an internet fraudster; yahoo.

She narrated further that her son came to Akure alongside his family –wife and child, for Easter celebration. However, when he wanted to return to Lagos where he was based, she persuaded him to stay a little longer as she noticed that he had become lean due to work stress in Lagos.

On the fateful day, Mrs Mojisola narrated that she received a call from her husband about the accident. Upon getting to the scene, she said she met her son in a pool of blood. She said she was forced to watch her son beaten to death after all her efforts to save him proved abortive.

“I tried to save him but the mob turned against me and prevented me from rescuing him. I was there looking at him helplessly while his siblings could also not stop the mob action and they even hit me with planks”. –says Mrs Mojisola.

Reacting to claims that fetish objects like ‘small coffin, casket’ amongst others were found inside the deceased’s car, Mrs Mojisola dismissed the claims as she clarifies that it was a piggy bank which belonged to her son’s wife that was found inside the car.

She pleaded with the Ondo State Government to help bring the people behind her son’s death to book.
