Emerging reports have claimed that Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police, on Monday, January 7, returned to his office at police headquarters in Abuja.

The Cable reports that Idris, who was expected to retire on Tuesday, January 3 when he reached the mandatory 35 years in service, arrived at his office at 11:40am.

Track News gathered that he arrived in a convoy of at least six vehicles with his private car marked NPF 01. It was learnt that he was greeted by the parade guards within the force headquarters entering his office.

There have been speculations that his tenure might be extended till the elections are over but that has cannot been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Track News had reported that the police faulted PDP for demanding that the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, should resign his position over alleged political bias.

Jimoh Moshood, the police spokesperson on Thursday, November 29, described the call by the PDP for the resignation of Idris as laughable.

The police spokesperson also dismissed the allegation that the police was working in favour of any political party, insisting that the force has remained neutral.

Moshood said the police are only focused on law enforcement and ensuring that the forthcoming elections were conducted peacefully.
