I’m surprised, don’t know why – Ederson reacts as Brazil snubs Alisson

Manchester City star, Ederson has said that he was shocked over Brazil’s decision to snub Liverpool’s Alisson.

Alisson is Ederson’s rival for the Brazil goalkeeper spot but was not called up by his country for the March international break.

Brazil will play a friendly march against Morocco on Saturday, being their only game during this international break.

Interim coach, Ramon Menezes revealed his 23-man squad for the fixture earlier this month.

There were many surprise omissions from the squad and Alisson, who has been his country’s first-choice keeper since around 2016, was definitely one of them.

“The first moment I saw the list I was surprised, but it’s the coach’s decision. They are choices, I thought he would be on the list, but he was not,” Ederson told reporters ahead of the game.

“I do not know why, if it is a matter of opportunities for younger players.”
