DECLARATION OF INTENT TO CONTEST FOR THE POSITION OF NATIONAL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA HEADQUARTERS BY COMRADE BENJAMIN ADEKUNLE ONILEOWO
Distinguished leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, respected stakeholders, fellow comrades, gentlemen of the press, and the ever-vibrant Nigerian youth,
Today, I stand before you humbled yet energized by the collective strength of the Nigerian youth. I declare my aspiration to serve as the National Public Relations Officer of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, the apex statutory umbrella body for youth and youth organizations in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with a singular driving mantra — INNOVATION.
Nigeria’s youth are resilient, creative, and resourceful. From the bustling streets of our markets to the lecture halls of our universities and workplaces, from grassroots communities to the Nigerian diaspora, our voices are powerful — yet too often unheard. My ambition is to change this narrative. I am that Ekiti village boy bringing my innovative style of service from the Fountain of Knowledge to build a communication system that does not just pass information, but one that engages, educates, and empowers every young Nigerian.
My vision is to continue to position the National Youth Council of Nigeria as the most trusted, visible, and inclusive platform for young people, deploying innovative tools that connect us, amplify us, and unify us.
Our Innovation Agenda for the Nigerian youth is built on the 3Es:
- Engage – Building Bridges, Not Gaps
We will bring the Council closer to the people, especially every young Nigerian, through physical and digital engagements, youth town halls, podcasts, and community-driven media on diverse aspects of youth and national development. Every Nigerian youth, at home and abroad, will know that the NYCN is their platform and their voice. - Educate – Powering Awareness and Enlightenment
Through our social campaigns, youth policy digests, and civic literacy programs, we will ensure every Nigerian youth understands their rights, responsibilities, and opportunities within this Council and the nation at large. - Empower – Connecting Youth to Opportunities
We will launch our Youth Development Portal, spotlight inspiring young Nigerians, establish an empowerment fellowship, and build global linkages with diaspora youths. Our communication will not just inspire words but open doors of opportunities for millions of young Nigerians.
My commitment to the Nigerian youth, if entrusted with this mandate, is that I will:
- Redefine youth-centered communication strategies across all states, the FCT, and the diaspora.
- Harness digital tools, social platforms, and storytelling to unify Nigerian youth.
- Foster transparency, inclusivity, and credibility in every message that carries the name of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
I will not just inform; I will inspire.
I will not just publicize; I will unify.
I will not just innovate; I will elevate the voice of every Nigerian youth.
My comrades, the future of Nigerian youth lies in how effectively we tell our story and project our collective strength. Let us innovate. Let us engage, educate, and empower. Let us make the National Youth Council of Nigeria the pride of Africa and the true voice of its young people.
Together, we will redefine youth communication.
Together, we will innovate for a stronger youth movement.
