Insecurity: Unexpected redeployment affected many senior Army officers

The Nigerian Army has redeployed senior officers, including principal staff officers, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), corps commanders, commandants of training institutions, brigade commanders, and commanding officers from Army Headquarters.

This comes on the heels of renewed attacks by terrorists and other armed non-state actors, as well as a day after military leaders announced a new strategy to combat the country’s threats.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, issued a statement on Friday announcing the officers’ redeployment.

He stated that Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army, has approved the posting of some senior officers to command, instructional, and staff positions across the service’s formations and units.

“As they assume their new positions, the Chief of Army Staff has directed all newly appointed senior officers to redouble their effort and commitment to duty in addressing the nation’s security challenges,” Nwachukwu said.

Major General UT Musa was promoted from Headquarters 81 Division to Headquarters 82 Division, Major General TA Lagbaja was promoted from Headquarters 82 Division to Headquarters 1 Division, Major General OC Ajunwa was promoted from Nigeria Defence Section Brasilia to HQ 81 Division, and Major General AS Chinade was promoted from Depot Nigerian Army to Headquarters 2 Division.

Major General OW Ali was promoted from Army Headquarters Department of Army Administration to Chief of Administration (Army), Major General S Muhammed was promoted from Defence Headquarters to Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation and named Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (Army), and Major General JA Ataguba was promoted from Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (Army) (Army).

Major General PB Fakrogha was transferred from Defence Headquarters Garrison to Defence Space Agency and named Director of Policy Plans and Research, Major General MO Enendu was transferred from Nigerian Army College of Logistics to Defence Headquarters and named Director of Psychological Warfare, and Major General AE Attu was transferred from Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Training and Operations to Defence Headquarters Garrison and named Commodo Commander.

Major General AM Alabi of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School was named Corps Commander Ordnance, Major General A Mohammed of the Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited was named Corps Commander Electrical Mechanical Engineers, and Major General E Akerejola of the Nigerian Army Supply and Transport School was named Corps Commander Supply and Transport (Army).

Major General PI Eze was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordinance School by the Defence Headquarters Department of Procurement, Major General AA Adeyinka was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics by the Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics, and Major General PP Malla was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Depot by the Army Headquarters Department of Army Administration.

Brigadier General DH Ndahi from Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Headquarters 4 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General FS Etim from Amphibious Training School to Headquarters 6 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General EA Orakwe from Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Headquarters 19 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General JO Are from Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Headquarters 19 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General JO Are from Army Headquarters
