Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has urged Nigerians to disregard the South-East region’s marketers’ threats to close depots in Calabar, Port Harcourt, and Enugu.

This information was contained in a statement that Mr. Edet Umana, Chairman of IPMAN, Cross River, issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.

The apparent threat to shut down the depots due to reported police harassment by some zone merchants infuriated Umana.

He claimed that IPMAN members in the zone were not interested in further interrupting the distribution of petroleum products in light of the recent issues experienced across the country.

The leadership issue of IPMAN has been addressed, according to Umana, who stated: “A Supreme Court judgement issued in Abuja on December 14, 2018 has.

“In the judgment read by Justice Musa Muhammad in suit No. SC15/2015, Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo and Alhaji Danladi Pasali were recognized as the National President and Secretary of IPMAN, respectively.”

Based on this decision, he asserts, the police have convened a meeting with individuals he believes are an IPMAN section in the Southeast to discuss the situation.
