Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Taraba State Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has once again warned traditional rulers against land grabbing.

He was also seen warning them not to allow illegal mining in their communities.

The warning was issued on Thursday, while Ishaku was hosting monarchs Aka Uka of Wukari, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, and Sanvala Varzoa Shimbura, Gara of Donga.

The two first-class traditional rulers, who were recently presented with staffs of office, were in Jalingo, the state capital, to thank the governor.

According to him, traditional rulers are now working closely with their subjects to protect their domain, which must be sustained for continuous development, as the creation of additional chiefdoms has heralded the much-desired peace and development to the state.

He urged traditional rulers to work around the clock to prevent any form of illegal mining in their areas, arguing that no one has the right to mine any mineral in the state without the approval of the designated ministry.

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to extending the much-desired olive branch to farmers across the state, he stated that such a move would go a long way toward providing food for the people.

Speaking, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, the newly crowned Aku Uka of Wukari, said they were at Government House to thank Ishaku for his great effort in their successful coronation and presentation of staff of office.

The Aku Uka, who also serves as Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Chiefs, urged the governor to go above and beyond the call of duty to appoint a paramount ruler for the Takum local government council.
