Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said that it is now time for him to focus on the task ahead of him after his re-election.

Makinde spoke during a reception organised by the chairman of Ilaji Resort and Otun Apesinola of Ibadanland, Dotun Sanusi.

The reception was attended by traditional rulers, family heads in Ibadan, market leaders, religious leaders, top government dignitaries, serving and newly-elected National Assembly members and other dignitaries.

Track news recalls that Makinde was on Sunday declared as the winner of the gubernatorial election held on Saturday.

Makinde who re-contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored a total of 563, 756 votes to defeat all other candidates who contested the election.

The governor defeated Senator Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 256, 685 votes and Accord candidate, Adebayo Adelabu who scored 38, 357 votes.

The governor while speaking on his victory insisted that it is time to focus on the task ahead.

Governor Makinde said: “I can see that the majority of us are still in campaign mode but it has ended and we don’t have to be abusing ourselves anymore. Now, it is time to focus on the task ahead, which is to continue the work of taking our people from poverty to prosperity.

“I see this victory as a call for more work for the progress of Oyo State, and I want to assure you that, just like the first tenure, this will be an administration that will not discriminate on the basis of religion, ethnicity or background.

“We won’t discriminate against those who did not support us. It will be a government for the people of Oyo State, by the people of Oyo State and for the progress of Oyo State.”
