TRACKING____The Ijaw Youth Council IYC Worldwide commends the governor of Bayelsa state Senator Douye Diri, Chief Timpre Sylva, Hon. Minister of Petroleum Resources and Engr. Wabote the executive Secretary Nigeria Content Development and monitoring Board NCDMB for the display of brotherliness synergy and collaboration effort towards attracting a top-notch health facility for combating infectious disease and other health related challenges in Bayelsa the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation.
In a press statement made available to news men in Yenagoa, the National chairman of transition committee of Ijaw Youth Council Comrade Kennedy Olorugun and the speaker 4th mobile parliament of IYC Rt. Hon. Digimie said, when completed, the health facility will attract medical tourist to the heart of the Niger Delta. In the same vein the leadership of the council opined that the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region are yearning for life transforming project of this magnitude. After over five decades of oil and gas exploration in the region, the region still depicts a desolate ware- torn and diserted area.
They further stated that the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region appreciate the collaboration effort of these worthy sons of the Ijaw Nation for citing this project in the heart of the Niger Delta, in a period where the global community is faced with a scourge of pandemic of monumental proportion. The health facility with about 200 bed space I’d primed for general medical services and a diagnostic laboratory, would change the face of the medical facility and health infrastructure in the region.
The region disires more investments in the health and tourisim sector. Now that oil is fast losing his position in the global energy market, serious investment need to be made by the government on road, education and agriculture.
They also chargeses leaders that holding stratigics positions at the center and the state, in Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region would meet and do soul- searching for an effective collaboration to attract and big ticket project to the region after the covid19 pandemic.
They further reiterate the council support for Engr. Wabote as the executive secretary of Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board. He said, the council is comfortable with the inspiring leadership being provided by engr. Simbi Wabote in the NCDMD. Under his watch, the board now has a magnificent high rise building that has changed the skyline of the Jerusalem of Ijaw Nation. The capacity building, Workshops and seminars being organised. The Central Zone of the Ijaw youth council benefited from one of these trainings. Oil and gas parks are stratigics to the Nation’s oil and gas industry with the ability to transform the lives of many youths are the stream. The council believes strongly that for the region and Ijaw nation to develop quickly, men and women of vision with tangible achievements need to be supported and encouraged.
They also use the medium to advise all Ijaw indigens to stop the spread of false and malicious comments on the social media against our revered top government functionaries. Such actions could be hijack by unseen enemies to perpetuate the marginalisation of our region at the nation level.
While calling on top government functionaries from the region to re -double their efforts in the development of the Niger Delta region, the council is using all and sundry to give leaders from the Ijaw Nation all the support that is required for them to succeed in their onerous responsibilities, they added.
