TO EMPLOY 2000 BAYELSA YOUTHS.

An indigenous company currently handling the site preparation contract for the Brass Fertilizer & Petrochemical Company Ltd (BFPC) at Odioama in Brass local government area of Bayelsa state, Jefstone Skill Services Ltd, has been awarded ISO 90001 Quality Management Systems Certification, making history as the first indigenous company to attain such global feat in the corporate world.

Making the presentation of the ISO 90001 Quality Management Systems Certification document to the Managing Director/CEO of Jefstone Skill Services Ltd, Mr Gladstone Amabebe Humphery at the Company’s head office in Yenagoa recently, facilitator of the award and Managing Director of Solis Imperium Veritas Ltd, Mr. Stanley Ubani said from available records, Jefstone Skill Services Ltd is the first indigenous company to achieve this international feat in the corporate world.

According to Mr Ubani, having the ISO 90001 certification means that Jefstone Skill Services Ltd has an efficient management process in place, adding that an ISO 90001 certification demonstrates to both customers and stakeholders that the recipient company has the capabilities of delivering high-quality products that meet all industry regulations and are delivered on time.

Receiving the ISO 90001 certification from the facilitator, the elated Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jefstone Skill Services Ltd, Mr Gladstone Amabebe Humphery, described the feat as a dream come true for the company, especially becoming the first Bayelsa indigenous company to achieve such international quality management systems certification in the state.

Mr Humphery said: “It has been a very long ups and down, ups and down journey, since we began the process, but today, am glad that an Ijaw man like me is providing services to this international standard certification in quality management systems”.

“It is a plus to me and my people for also being the first indigenous company on this Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company at Odioama.

“Jefstone Skill Services Ltd, just trained fifteen youths, also certified to ISO 90001 levels. We have an estimated target of employing between one thousand five hundred to two hundred thousand youths when the BrassFertilizer & Petrochemical Company comes on stream.

“If the project can take up to 15,000 to 20,000 youths, Jefstone Skill Services Ltd has an estimated target of employing 1,500 to 2,000 youths, in addition to training 500 youths in various skill areas”, he explained.

It will be recalled that the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.

Therefore earning the ISO 90001 certification enforces a continuous improvement strategy, such that the recipient company always, by design, seeks ways to reduce waste and improve efficiency. Utiling the requirements set forth in ISO 90001 will help to first identify areas of waste and then implement preventative measures to avoid wasteful situations.
