A first-class traditional ruler in Nasarawa State, the Emir of Gurku, Jibrin Mohammed, and his wife were abducted by gunmen on Sunday night.
TrackNews Media reports that the gunmen stormed the Emir’s palace in Mararraba, Karu Local Government Area, and took the couple away.
A combined team of police and vigilante groups combed the surrounding bushes, but no trace of the abductees has been found.
This publication learnt that efforts to rescue the Emir and his wife are ongoing, and additional police personnel have been deployed.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident to journalists.
