In a shocking turn of events, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State has been hit by a massive wave of resignations.

Key figures who has publicly resign membership includes the APC Ankpa LG Party Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Zekeri, Mallam Hashim Adamu, Chairman of Enjema Ward 1 who had been a staunch member of the APC for many years, Hon. Aliyu Hussaini, the Suburb 2 Youth Leader, and Hon. Ilyasu Abdulkareem, Secretary of APC Ankpa Township Ward.

They all made the decision to join the SDP due to growing disillusionment with the party’s leadership and policies. Also, the SSA to the Local Government Chairman on political matters, Hon. Yunusa Friday Okpanachi tenders his resignation to join the SDP.

Aliyu Hussaini, the Youth Leader, echoed similar sentiments as he announced his resignation from the APC. Hussaini, highly regarded among the youth in the area, cited a lack of political initiatives and the party’s failure to address pressing issues and poor reward system. He expressed confidence in the SDP commitment to prioritizing the needs and aspirations of the youth.

The mass resignation of ward chairmen and youth leaders continues to crash the APC’s stronghold in Ankpa LGA. With the SDP gaining traction and public support through these high-profile defections, the upcoming political landscape in Ankpa is bound to witness intense competition and a reshuffling of political dynamics.

While the SDP celebrates its newfound support and the addition of influential figures, the political landscape in Ankpa LGA has undoubtedly witnessed a seismic shift. As the countdown to the November Gubernatorial elections begins, all eyes will be on how both parties navigate these developments and propel their respective agendas forward.
