Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has revealed that the federal government had abandoned the state government to its fate to rescue students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara.

The governor said this on Thursday while playing host to former Abia State Governor and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who paid him a sympathy visit at the Government House, Minna.

Bello said that the federal government had left the state to shoulder all the financial responsibilities which the current spate of insecurity in the state has caused.

He said that the federal government only sent a delegation to the state and deplored 300 mobile policemen to the state to help rescue the students.

He said: “So where is the support? At the moment, we have not seen any Federal support here since this incident occurred. Yes, we had a delegation that came to commensurate with, but we are left to ourselves.”

The Governor further stated that the state government will rescue the abducted school children with or without the support of the federal government.

“We will use whatever means and resources available to make sure the children return home safely. We don’t have the exact day and when these children will be released but I am very sure very soon,” he added.

In his remarks, Senator Kalu said he was in the state to identify with the government and people of Niger state in this time of trouble.

“We sympathize with you and we share in your grieve at the moment. We know what you are going through and this why am calling on the Federal Government to try to set up a joint security committee in your state to be able to have the representatives of all the forces stationed in the state to complement the existing command in the state,” he said.
