Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Bashiru Adekile, one of the four Ikare natives who were abducted last month on the Ikare-Owo road, has passed away.

Two weeks after being freed from the kidnapper’s hideout, Adekile passed away.

He and the other victims were held captive for three days in the wilderness before being freed by the kidnappers after paying an N4 million ransom

Since their rescue, Adekile, who was reportedly tortured by his kidnappers in the forest, has been receiving medical attention for an internal injury.

Family members claimed he passed away on Thursday.

The alleged kidnappers who took the late Adekile and four other people hostage have been placed on detention, according to an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The suspects were Mohammed Moshere, 25, Llyasu Lawal, 27, Mohammadu Abubakar Siddi, 26, Garba Bature, 36, and Abubakar Dengy, 20.

For unlawful possession of weapons, armed robbery, and kidnapping, they were charged.

Inspector Adeoye Adesegun, the police prosecutor, revealed the court that the accused had shot the driver carrying the victims, Adejoro Muda, in the head.

According to Adesegun, the suspects took away a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 worth N143,000 and an itel Android phone worth N47,000, together with N36,000 in cash.

According to the prosecutor, the crimes violated and were punishable by Section 6, (A&B)1,2,3(1)(b),3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap. 147, Vol. 4, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

The suspects were sent to Olokuta Correctional Center on the presiding magistrate’s order, Mayomi Olanipekun, pending legal counsel from the DPP.

He put the case back to November 29.
