Labour Party rejects suspended YPP Chairman over alleged corruption

The Labour Party, LP, in Nasarawa State says it would not accept the suspended State Chairman of the Young Progressives Party, Bishop Namo, into its fold following a corruption allegation recently leveled against him.

According to reports, the national leadership of the YPP had suspended Namo over alleged corruption in the party’s state chapter.

It was learnt that the suspended Chairman received a bribe from one desperate politician to illegally substitute the name of one John Mark, who was the party’s candidate for the Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, in the forthcoming general election.

Subsequently, Namo, on September 21, declared his support for the Labour Party, claiming that he had been received into the party.

However, the Nasarawa State chairman of LP, Alexander Emmanuel, said on Sunday that Namo would not be allowed into the party until he was declared innocent of the allegations against him in his former party.

During a press conference, Alexander said, “Labour party is a peaceful-loving political party. Our members here in Nasarawa state are known as peaceful people because we do not like trouble.

“We heard that Bishop Namo was suspended by the YPP over some corruption allegations.

“We do not know if they are true or false at the moment, but we will only accept him into the Labour party when we are sure that he is innocent of the allegations
