The Lagos State Government has intensified efforts to remove illegal structures along the Lekki Coastal Road, focusing on the Okunde Bluewater Scheme. The operation, led by the Commissioner for the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Ekundayo Alebiosu, targeted unauthorized shanties and occupants in the area.

Alebiosu explained that this exercise is a continuation of previous clean-up efforts aimed at preventing the re-emergence of illegal settlements on government-owned land. He stressed that these structures pose environmental and security risks, and are not in line with the Lagos State Mega City Master Plan.

The commissioner reiterated the state’s commitment to reclaiming and developing the area for a world-class Bluewater Scheme and coastal road network. He assured that ongoing monitoring and enforcement would preserve the site’s integrity for future development.
