Ahmad Lawan paid a condolence visit to the family of Sheikh Goni Aisami, a late Islamic cleric in Yobe State.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has urged relevant authorities, particularly the police, to expedite justice for Yobe State Islamic Cleric Sheikh Goni Aisami, who was allegedly killed by a soldier on Friday.

According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ola Awoniyi, Lawan made the appeal on Wednesday while paying a condolence visit to the late Cleric’s family in Gashua, Yobe State.

The Senate President and his entourage joined family members in praying for the late Sheikh’s repose before speaking to journalists.
“I’m taking this opportunity to urge the authorities, particularly the Police, to expedite justice for the late Sheikh.”

“At this point, I’d like to commend our people for remaining calm and peaceful, which is what we’re known for in this part of the country.”

“However, I must insist that justice be served for the murder of our Sheikh.”

“The Sheikh was my Special Assistant on Religious Affairs, and I collaborated closely with him over the years.” We beseech Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

“Killings like this are not common in this part of the country.” Particularly in Yobe North. As a result, we must do everything possible to halt this type of situation.

“When we have to recruit soldiers, police, and other security agencies, we must profile and scrutinize to ensure that we do not recruit people of questionable character or with a criminal history.” This is extremely important and necessary.

“I also want to reassure everyone that we will pursue this case until justice is served.”

“As for the overall security situation in the country, I can say that in the last three weeks or so, I have seen some improvement in the overall security situation.”

“We in the National Assembly will continue to support the executive branch of government, particularly our Armed Forces and other security agencies, to ensure that Nigerians’ lives and property are protected.”

“The situation may be serious, even dire, but our determination, by the Grace of God, will overcome the challenges that we face as a country in terms of security.”

“I want to encourage Nigerians to remain patient with us and to continue to pray for those of us in government.” “We will not back down until Nigeria is secure,” Lawan stated.

The Senate President also seized the opportunity to pay similar condolence visits to the families of late Alhaji Musa Kazir and Late Hon. Kobir Maimota who were also two prominent indigenes that died recently.
