Lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty: The Federal Government launches Project T-MAX in Lagos

THE Federal Government launched Project T-MAX, a Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, program in Lagos yesterday with the goal of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

The pilot scheme includes seven pilot states: Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Gombe, with the goal of empowering at least 15,000 Nigerians across the seven states.

Fela Bank-Olemoh, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Education Intervention, and Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, announced this at a media briefing and official launch of the program at the state Ministry of Education, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Bank-Olemoh, “Project Technical-Maximum, abbreviated T-MAX, aims to equip approximately 10 million Nigerians with the technical and vocational skills required to be economically independent by 2030.”

“A total of 15,000 individuals will be trained across seven states for the project’s Pilot phase, which runs from August to December 2022: Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Gombe.”

“Information, Communication, Technology, ICT, Tiling and Stone Work, Solar Installation, Welding and Fabrication, Plumbing and Fittings, Domestic Electrical Wiring and Installation, Furniture Works, Beauty Care and Cosmetology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Repairs, and Automobile are some of the skills that will be deployed.”

“At the conclusion of this Programme, Starter Packs will be distributed to the top participants in each state based on their assessment rankings.” These Starter Packs will help selected beneficiaries get started with their newly acquired skills.”
