Senator Ahmed Makarfi, former Governor of Kaduna State, has reacted to the meeting between All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
According to Track News, Wike and Tinubu met in London on Monday night to discuss issues concerning the 2023 presidential election.

According to a source who spoke to Vanguard on the condition of anonymity, the meeting was centered on how the Wike camp would remain in the PDP in order to cause a crisis in the party.

Speaking to Track News a Tinubu camp source said the discussions were very fruitful, adding that Wike may reach an agreement to support Tinubu and the APC in the 2023 elections.

The APC chieftain also stated that during the meeting, they discussed how they would mobilize their supporters to work for the APC in 2023.

According to the source, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi, attended the meeting from the Tinubu camp, while Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo) attended from the Wike camp.

In an interview with The Track News Makarfi expressed concern about the meeting between Wike and some top leaders of the ruling APC.

He did, however, call for reconciliation between Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The former governor urged that those mediating reconciliation be given time to work rather than stirring up controversy through public comments.

“I have always supported reconciliation at all levels,” he said. We are in such a process in Kaduna.

“I also believe we should give those mediating the reconciliation a chance and avoid inflaming things with public comments from all sides.” Political events are highly unpredictable.

“While what we see and hear in the open is concerning, what we don’t see and hear should be more concerning, and this applies to all major political parties.”

“The political environment is changing, and only time will tell.” I continue to urge all parties involved in the conflict to give peace a chance.”
