Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

According to Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice are suspected of organ harvesting in the United Kingdom, but the federal government is powerless to intervene. During a ministerial briefing on August 11th, Malami emphasized that it is against government policy to meddle in judicial matters, whether they are national or international.

He proclaimed: “The Nigerian government has never previously meddled in judicial disputes, whether they be national or international. Regarding the senator Ekweremadu intervention, that is still the government’s stance. I have highlighted in my presentation that Nigeria and other countries have cooperated and asked for each other’s legal assistance. As a result, I would want to say that if such a request is made, it will also come from senator Ekweremadu.

“Since the request related to my office, it was a simple transfer, so I am unable to remark, but I do recall it very vividly. It was delivered to the UK crime agency at the distinguished senator’s request, but it was transmitted through my office and was sealed.

Sen. Ekweremadu requested that a government agency disclose its default under seal, which was transmitted to the UK in compliance with the fact that sending international documents is the obligation of a department central authority unit in the office of the attorney general.

“The implication of what I’m trying to say is that we have a mutual legal assistance agreement with the UK and that we will promptly respond to any requests for international support made by any agency, whether it be the senator as an accused or suspect or even the agencies in the UK.

“We cannot, however, become engaged in this topic as it relates to the federal government. If there are interests, perhaps those interests ought to be supported by the law. For instance, among other things, the disputed child is subject to our kid rights.

“Given that Senator Ekweremadu is a Nigerian, consular assistance is required and has been requested. We’ll take a critical look at it.

“I’m basically saying that it’s not about an outsider interfering or maybe just showing up at a situation where there might be criminal conduct.

As you undoubtedly already know, some Nigerians have been convicted in several countries. Then, some foreigners who had recently committed crimes in Nigeria were also found guilty. Thus, it deals with issues that have a criminal undertone.

The statement continues, “It is not for the Nigerian government to just intervene because you are a high-profile individual. The jurisdiction controls what occurs both in terms of request and support.” “If there is a problem, there is a criminal allegation,”
