A 37-year old man, Utibe Kufre Sunday, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly sleeping with his 14-year old step daughter and defiling her in the process.

TrackNews Online reports that the incident happened at Oshundola Street, Jendo Road, Ikotun Lagos, between August, 2024 to February, 2025, when the victim eventually exposed him.

According to the Police, the man had repeatedly defiled the victim for several months and asked her not to tell anyone about it but she later revealed what happened.

On the 27th June, 2025, a case of sexual assault was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the man at the station for interrogation.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, Utibe Kufre Sunday ‘m’ of No. 17, Oshundola Street, Jendo Road, Ikotun Lagos, between August 2024-February 2025, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually assault the victim, 14years old, your step daughter, by penetrating her vagina with your dick and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”

However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
