The ban on telecommunication networks in Zamfara State due to bandit terrorists activities will be lifted on Tuesday, Governor Bello Matawalle has revealed.
www.tracknews.ng reports that the state government had ordered the shut down of telecommunication services on September 4 as part of the measures to curb the attacks by armed terrorists and kidnapping in the state.
The Matawalle-led government later restored mobile network service to Gusau, the state capital, a month later.
Speaking on Saturday, Matawalle disclosed that telecom services will be restored in 48 hours.
According to the governor, his government will also lift the ban on weekly market activities in the state.
“From the information we have gotten, there is clear reduction in the surge of crimes in our communities and by Monday or Tuesday, every one in our communities would be able to communicate with the outside world,” Matawalle said.
“We are taking right steps to ensure the criminals have no breathing space. If we are suffering, they are suffering too. The social and economic wellbeing of the people affected by our measures will be normalized.”
Recall that the Kaduna government had on Friday lifted the three-month telecommunications shutdown imposed in October due to the recent attacks by bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
The Kaduna State Government announced this in a statement released through the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
According to Aruwan, the relevant government agency in charge of telecommunication has been directed to lift the ban.
Aruwan further stated that other measures like the ban on motorcycles, ban on weekly markets, selling of fuel in kegs remain in force.
