Messi offers Ballon d’Or hope to Man City striker Haaland

Ballon d’Or winner Leo Messi has said Manchester City striker Erling Haaland also deserved the the award.

Messi won his eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday night after leading Argentina to last year’s World Cup triumph.

On his nearest competition, the Inter Miami star stated: “Haaland and [Kylian] Mbappe will win the Ballon d’Or one day.

“Erling deserved it very much too, he has won Premier League, Champions League while being the top scorer of everything. This award could have been yours today too.

“I’m sure in the next years you will win it”.
