Miffed by the report released by Amnesty International (AI) alleging that most of the killings recorded in the country were perpetrated by cattle rustlers, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has petitioned AI.

MACBAN’s National President, Yusufu Musa Ardo, while submitting the petition to the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), in Abuja, stated that the report was uncharitable, unfair and bias.

Ardo insisted that the report should be thoroughly investigated, noting that the image of cattle rustlers had be maligned.

While claiming that some people hide under the guise of herders to commit havoc, Ardo sued for peace and coexistence between herders and farmers.

His words: “The areas where Fulani people are being killed were not captured. In Adamawa State, over 120 Fulani children and elderly people were killed and cut into pieces by Batara communities’ militia.

“In Gambu, Taraba State, thousands of harmless Fulanis were killed while their cattle were destroyed by the Mambilla militia. In Benue State, Fulani travelers were killed and burned in a motor park which Amnesty International failed to capture in their report,” he said.

He added that “for discrediting and illegally accusing our security agencies of being bias, we request that Amnesty International should be called to order and their leadership be punished,” he insisted.

Meanwhile, the Chief Commissioner of PCC, Mr Chille Igbawua who assured Miyetti Allah that the commission would be comprehensively investigated, encouraged them to remain law-abiding.

Igbawua also called on farmers to cohabit with the herders, noting that such a collaboration would boost the economy of the country for good.
