Morocco has become the first partner of the European Union, EU, in the economic and commercial fields on the African continent.

This was announced at a press conference in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, by the European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

President Von der Leyen reiterated the EU’s commitment to deepening its “strategic, close and solid” partnership with the North African nation.

She also noted the contributions of Europeans living in Morocco and Moroccans living in Europe to the mutual enrichment of cultures that has had massive impacts for many years.

The President added that her meeting with Authorities in Morocco was an opportunity to discuss pertinent global challenges facing the North African nation and Europe, noting that both parties must reach a consensus within the time frame of their collaboration.
