….Charge Him To Deliver On Sustainable Peace And Development In Delta State

Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, (CEPEJ), a nongovernmental organisation, has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to address the hardship and unemployment residents are experiencing in Delta State.

The NGO in a statement by its national coordinator, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, in Paris, France said “The call became necessary following the upsurge in decline of social economic activities occasioned by insecurity, bad roads, unemployment, communal clashes and poor handling of the state’s infrastructures”.

The environmental activist also decried the deplorable condition of some roads in the state that has become a death trap, noting that most of them were left unattended as they are known to be Federal roads. However, he directs the governor’s attention to many roads within the commercial cities in Delta State such as Warri, Sapele, Udu, Uvwie and host of others that are not necessarily federal roads.

He adds that, urgent government intervention is needed to alleviate the suffering of road users and save them from robbery attacks by bandits who often take advantage of bad spots to unleash terror on road users. As a means to arrest the upsurge of poor quality road construction by unpatriotic contractors, Mulade task Okowa to ensure that he involve the people affected by such roads in the planning and execution of such road constructions project.

while assuring Governor Okowa of his support to make sustainable peace a lasting project, he urged the governor not to relent in carrying out his responsibilities of protecting the lives and property of people in the State.

He further urged governor Okowa to take advantage of the relative peace to deliver on his electoral promise, adding that three is need for the Governor to create more jobs and as well invest in sustainable Peace and security in every part of the State.
