TRACKING___The nationwide curfew which was announced by the president a week ago begins today. The curfew which is part of the measures by government to forestall the spread of the coronavirus is between the hours of 8pm to 6am.
Recall that President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari during his last media broadcast on Monday 30th May ordered a nationwide curfew from 8pm to 6am beginning from today to curb COVID – 19 spread across the country.
He also ordered a two- week total lockdown in Kano State with immediate effect which is already in its second week.
This is coming as the president approved a “ phased and gradual easing ” of the lockdown in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun states beginning from May 4.
The three states as well as several other states across the country have been on lockdown for more than 4 weeks now.
The President also mandated the compulsory use of face masks or coverings by citizens in public in addition to maintaining physical distancing and personal hygiene.
However, question marks have been raised concerning the planned easing of the lockdown beginning from May 4 as the coronavirus cases in Nigeria continues to rise rapidly on a daily basis.
So far Nigeria has recorded 2558 confirmed cases of the virus with 87 deaths.
