NECO Releases 2021 External SSCE Results

QaThe National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2021 external School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the examination body, Professor Dantani Wushishi, made this known on Thursday at its head office in Minna, Niger State capital.

While addressing newsmen, Wushishi stated that while 49,916 candidates registered for the November-December external examination, the results had a 78 percent pass rate.

The NECO boss disclosed that 36,116 out of 45,821 candidates got credit and above representing 78.04 percent in the English language, while 35,706 out of 45, 756 candidates representing 78.04 percent had five credits and above in Mathematics.

He added that 37,991 candidates representing 81.04 percent got five credits and above irrespective of English and mathematics, while 29,342 candidates representing 62.59 per cent got five credits and above including English and Mathematics.

He said: “49,916 candidates registered for the November- December external examination adding that 36,116 out of 45,821 candidates got credit and above representing 78.04 per cent in the English language. 35,706 out of 45, 756 candidates representing 78.04 per cent got five credits and above in Mathematics.

“The total number of candidates who got five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 29,342 representing 62.59 per cent while on the other hand, 37,991 candidates representing 81.04 per cent got five credits and above irrespective of English and mathematics.”

Speaking further, Wushishi said 4,454 candidates were indicted for various forms of examination malpractices compared to 6, 465 recorded in 2021.

The NECO boss stated that four supervisors were blacklisted for aiding and abetting during the examination, reiterating that the body will not tolerate any form of examination malpractices.

“A supervisor was blacklisted from Niger state, one from Borno State and two from Delta state for engaging aiding and abetting during the examination.

“These supervisors would no longer be engaged in the conduct of NECO examinations,” he said.
