**As DG New Media Insists Govt is Building Nembe-Brass Road On Water
Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. (Mrs.) Ebiuwou Obiyai, has reiterated the commitment of the Prosperity Administration to the development of Bayelsa State.
Speaking in an interview in Yenagoa during a tour of project sites by members of the Government New Media, Mrs. Obiyai, said the ongoing construction of road projects across the state is a testament to the commitment of the state government to transform the state.
She expressed delight over the quality and pace of job done at the Opolo market road which is being dualized, stressing that what the government needs from the people of the state at this time is support to enable it to deliver more projects.
The Information boss stated that despite the difficult terrain which makes it very expensive to construct roads in Bayelsa, the state government is determined to make a difference and urged the traders at the Opolo market to ensure that they keep the area clean at all times and avoid trading on the road when it is completed as that would affect the durability of the project.
Also Speaking, Director-General New Media, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, said the Bayelsa State Government is practically building the Nembe-Brass road on water given the difficult terrain.
He remarked that the Nembe-Brass road is a proof of the Governor’s love for the people of the Bayelsa East Senatorial district, stressing that Governor Diri is determined to carry every area along in the development of the state.
While assuring that the project will not suffer any funding issues, Dr. Oredipe said the Nembe-Brass road will open up opportunities to the blue economy and positively affect the fortunes of the state.
In his remarks, project Manager of the Nembe-Brass road, Engr Hazem Najjar, Setraco stated that the first phase of the project which is 21 kilometers is progressing well with no challenge.
He said the project which is expected to be completed within 3 years from the day it was awarded has a total of ten bridges with the first layer of asphalt already laid to about 5kilometers of the road while sand filling is just one kilometer shy of the complete 21 kilometres.
Abel Ifiemi and Wanaemi Trust, indigenes of Nembe and Brass who spoke to our reporter both expressed gratitude to Governor Diri for the construction of the Nembe Brass road, saying it will transform their fortunes positively.
Also, at Opolo, traders at the market lauded Governor Diri for the dualization of the Opolo market road and pledged their continuous support for his administration.
