Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

Invading gunmen on Friday night killed four police officers at the Agwa Divisional Police headquarters in Imo State’s Oguta Local Government Area (LGA).

Track News learned that two male officers were shot dead while two female police officers were burnt to death.

One of the killed officers, according to a source, had only been on the force for two weeks.

Additionally, the attackers set fire to several automobiles in the police station’s parking lot, including the Divisional Police Officer’s (DPO).

Around 11 o’clock at night, the development sparked alarm in the neighborhood.

According to Track News, the thugs arrived in three vehicles—a tipper and two sedans—and began shooting randomly.

It is known that reinforcements have been sent, and state police commissioner Muhammed Berde was anticipated.

Since late 2020, there has been an unsettling increase in insecurity in the southeast of Nigeria, particularly in the states of Imo and Anambra. While the government holds the separatist group Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), responsible for the criminal acts, the banned organization has always denied any involvement in the senseless killings.
