The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has vowed not to allow foreigners to participate in any form of electioneering activities.

This is to ensure free, fair, credible, peaceful and acceptable 2023 general elections.

The Assistant Comptroller General in charge of Zone ‘C’ made the pledge on Thursday while speaking with journalists in Damaturu, shortly after paying a courtesy visit to the State Governor.

According to him, operatives of the Service would ensure that non Nigerians are not allowed to participate in any form of the election process.

“Even during the ongoing political campaigns, our operatives are keenly on the watch at all entry points of borders to ensure that foreigners do not come in to participate in the political processes,
because this is one of the critical periods.

“We will also use our ICT gadgets to monitor the movement of persons of doubtful character. We would be
profiling everyone to avoid them constituting nuisance with Nigerian name”, he assured.

The Assistant Comptroller General
further stated that foreigners would not be allowed to hold any documents meant for Nigerians.

“Our CG recently in Abuja told us that many cards were seized from non Nigerians because they have no reason to hold Nigerian cards. These documents were meant for Nigerians. So, allowing foreigners to continue to hold
them will constitute a threat to Nigeria’s security
