Abia: ADC candidate Sunday Onuoha tasks Governor-elect Otti on good governance
The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the just-concluded 2023 governorship election in Abia State, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has sent message to the winner and the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti, on his emergence as the governor-elect of the state after a keenly contested poll.
It was reported that Otti polled a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second position at the concluded poll on Wednesday.
The INEC Returning Officer for Abia State, Professor Nnenna Oti announced the winner after collation of results of the governorship election from the last local government area, Obingwa.
In his congratulatory message to Otti, the ADC candidate said: “On behalf of the leadership, members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Abia State, and my family, I congratulate you on your emergence as the Governor-elect of Abia State in the just concluded governorship elections held on Saturday 18th March, 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).”
Earlier, Bishop Onuoha, while baring his mind in a statement on Friday, opined the outcome of the poll was a clear indication that Abia people truely yearned for change in the state’s political leadership, and also are expectant of a difference.
He described the emergence of Labour Party’s Alex Otti as the new Governor-elect of Abia State as a victory for all irrespective of political affiliations.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the Abia’s governor-elect to address numerous challenges in the best interest of the state.
“I wish you success in this exalted office, as you hit the ground running in the daunting task ahead. May your renowned professional acumen not be eclipsed by personal aggrandisement. I am confident that you have the best interest of Abia State at heart as you put the interest of our state first in all your actions,” he said.
He further assured Otti of his full support “on this new journey to liberating Abia.”
“I look forward to working with you on this collective objective,” he said.
Bishop Onuoha also added: “We anticipate that there will be a positive difference seen and felt across Abia, and that you will create an environment of inclusiveness and steadfastness.”
