Acupuncture Day is observed in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Association of Clinical Acupuncturists (NACA) held the first African World Acupuncture Awareness Day at the Onikan Youths Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Dr Edison Christian, Chairman of NACA, urged governments to prioritize insurance schemes for clinical acupuncture treatment for citizens.
He mentioned that one of the Sustainable Development Goals is to raise awareness about acupuncture (SDGs).
Christian urged governments to incorporate NACA members regulated by the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board and the Ministry of Health into a hospital payroll scheme.
Prof Adefule-Oshitelu, chairperson of the traditional medicine board, reaffirmed the board’s commitment to supporting NACA.
