Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) has cancelled two road contracts worth N7.5 billion.

The SEC approved the termination of contracts for the construction of the Gombi-Gaanda and Michika-Moda-Kamale roads at its 13th 2022 meeting late on Wednesday.

The projects, worth N4.6 billion and N2.9 billion, were awarded to AG Vission Construction Limited in 2009 and 2013, respectively, before the current government took office, but the contractor has yet to complete them.

This is the second time in two weeks that the State government, led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has cancelled unfinished business contracts.

The SEC had previously terminated the contract for the construction of the 39.5km Maiha-Fulbere-Zhedinya-Marraba Pella road, which had been awarded to the same AG Vision in 2007.

After the Wednesday SEC meeting in Yola presided over by the State Deputy Governor, Chief Crowther Seth, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, told reporters that the contractor who was given various projects at different times demonstrated the highest level of insensitivity to the projects, which the government will no longer take lightly.

He stated that the SEC had directed the State Ministry of Works and Housing to coordinate with the Ministry of Justice in order to award the revoked contracts to contractors who will build roads for the State.
