Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has charged the newly-inaugurated commissioners into the State Executive Council to be result-oriented in the discharge of their duties.

He gave the charge Friday during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Uyo, the state capital.

The governor told them that all he wanted to hear were the giant strides made in their various ministries and in their communities, even as he charged them to go back and stimulate rural developments in their respective wards and local government councils.

He said, “My dear colleagues, Akwa Ibom people want results; results in ensuring food security through the agricultural revolution we have promised to ignite. Akwa Ibom people are waiting for us to connect the dots in the rural areas, by bringing massive development to those areas and changing the narratives and circumstances of our rural dwellers.”

Governor Eno also revealed that the reason he returned all of them who served in former Governor Udom Emmanuel’s tenure was due to their capacity, experience and the critical roles they all played to see to his victory as the governor of Akwa Ibom State.

“I have been asked this question several times: “Your Excellency, we had expected to see the injection of new blood into the state EXCO, why are you bringing back the same old blood”?

“My answer has been standard and direct: You do not abandon your foot soldiers shortly after a successful execution of a major victory. I know these ‘old blood’ very well. We went to the battle to continue good governance together, we were in the trenches together; we swatted away the bullets of vicious attacks together, most of you spent long hours traversing the length and crannies of this state together with me, most of you took political arrows on my behalf. Therefore, it is only fitting, we bring back tested hands with the right experience and who understand the system.

He announced the creation of the Ministry of Internal Security to ensure security for the people and investors and mandated the ministry to profile the various voluntary security groups in the state for harmonisation of operations and purposes.
