BREAKING: Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Affirmed as substantive IGP
The Police Council has officially confirmed Kayode Egbetokun, who has been serving as the acting Inspector-General of Police, as the substantive IGP.
This confirmation was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, following a council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa.
Minister Geidam highlighted Egbetokun’s satisfactory performance over the past three months since assuming the role of acting IGP on June 20.
He emphasized that Egbetokun has demonstrated competence in discharging his duties and has presented a strategic blueprint to enhance national security, indicating his suitability for the position.
He said the confirmation marks a significant decision in the country’s law enforcement leadership and is poised to shape the direction of policing and security measures in the nation.
