A Magistrates’ Court in Adoka, Otukpo LGA, Benue State, on Wednesday ordered the remand of two friends, Adikwu Alexander and Ngbede Ogili, for alleged attempted homicide.
Alexander and Ogili were charged with conspiracy, causing great bodily harm, and attempted culpable homicide.
Alexander and Ogili’s plea for lack of jurisdiction was denied by Magistrate Sonia Yaikyur.
Yaikyur ordered the police to continue their investigation.
According to Track News, she adjourned the case until February 3 for further consideration.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Police Prosecutor, Insp. James Ewache, told the court that Ms Mary Obiabo of Ogbeche Adoka LGA Benue reported the case on Oct 31.
Ewache testified in court that the suspect’s accomplices, Adikwu Alexander, Ngbede Ogili, John Ajawu, Egbe Idoko, and Gabriel Okwoli, broke into the complainant’s compound in search of her son Eche.
When the cops saw him, they pursued him and used a machete to inflict various degrees of injury on his neck and hands.
The prosecution stated that an investigation into the case was still ongoing and requested an adjournment from the court.
He claimed the offense violated sections 97, 248, and 230 of the Benue Penal Code of 2004.
