DOUYE DIRI AND HIS PLACE IN HISTORY

October 1st 1996 and February 14th 2020, are most epochal dates in the annals of Bayelsa state. These dates in history cannot be forgotten as it brought in the creation of Bayelsa State and the Miracle Governor. These dates are to be described as the time of the healing of wounds as the last 24 months have been eventful and exhilarating in the quest to continue and re-start the clock of progress in our beloved Bayelsa State. The state has been on the upswing and the light of development is shinning again. Bayelsa State has successfully risen to address the critical questions of development and restoration of hopes.

The State Chairman, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Bayelsa State Council, Chief (Dr) Oyinkuro Ifie Ereboh, today, in his office while addressing the press, in his words “None the less, Bayelsa State has moved away from the spot of stagnation of recent history and now, the focus is clear, the direction is unambiguous, and it is a movement in motion. At a time, there was a palpable loss of hope in the state among the citizenry; violence and all forms of criminal activities reigned supreme. His Excellency, the prosperity governor, Senator Douye Diri, in just 2(two) years has been able to restore the core as we are witnessing the commissioning of the Igbedi Road, Elebele Bridge, Nembe Unity Bridge, New Yenagoa City link Road; Igbogene-Okarki, an ultra-modern motor park at Igbogene –Epie in Yenagoa, Media House along Azikoro Road in Yenagoa and Bayelsa Health Insurance Scheme Complex Yenagoa, alongside lecture halls and science laboratories at the Bayelsa Medical University(BMU), securing of permit and commencement of operations at the State’s Airport in partnership with United Nigeria Airlines and Ibom airlines. These are laudable projects worthy of appraisals”.

His success in governance isn’t based on your ability to simply change. It is based on your ability to change faster than your dissenters.
