Eha-Amufu: We don’t go to the farm anymore.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
Farmers in Enugu State’s Isi-Uzo Local Government Area’s Eha-Amufu community said they no longer go to their farms for fear of being attacked by Fulani herdsmen, threatening them with famine.
Marauding herders had heavily attacked many farm settlements in Eha-Amufu, including Mgbuji, Ngele Aguiyi, and Abo, resulting in the deaths of many farmers and the destruction of farms.
Farmers have abandoned their crops, according to a local, due to constant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
“Soldiers have been accompanying our farmers to the fields since the attacks began, but they no longer go to their farms,” he explained.
Some farmers who spoke with South-East Voice expressed regret over their substantial losses.
