Equipping military Buhari’s greatest achievement – Oba Oyelude
The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude has revealed that the ability to equip the Nigerian military to counter the myriads of security challenges Nigerian was encountering was the biggest achievement of the outgone Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Oba Oyelude made this known during an interview with journalists in Kuta on Sunday.
The monarch added that Nigeria’s military capacity is better rated across the globe as a direct result of the investments by the Buhari’s administration.
He added that the Buhari administration left a legacy of no part of Nigeria under the control of insurgents and terrorists like what was obtained in 2015 when he assumed office as President.
“President Muhammadu Buhari tried in the best way he could to deliver to Nigerians; I would say one of his greatest accomplishments was empowering the Military to fight the insurgencies and insecurity in the country.
“Now, unlike when he came to power in 2015, no single territory is under the control of Boko Haram. That is as a result of the military decisiveness in dealing with the insurgency and terrorists. The military was provided with enough equipment,” he said.
“As a way of keeping insecurity at bay, the traditional ruler advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government to empower the youth.
“In order to fight insecurity in the country, the Federal Government must empower the youths. The insurgents and terrorists don’t recruit from heaven. They recruit from our jobless youthful population.
“The Federal Government should provide social security. If you don’t have a good job, the government should provide a means of giving stipends until you get a good job.
“That’s what they benefit from abroad. That’s why most able-bodied youths are going abroad in droves. They enjoy social investments in those areas.
“President Tinubu is a goal-getter. He’s mentally equipped for the job, he has the knack of sighting brilliant brains. He should look for these people so they can help him deliver on his mandate,” he added
