The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has advised those sponsoring the candlelight processions of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to launch a foundation in honour instead.

Adejobi made this known via his X handle on Saturday, September 24.

The police spokesman was reacting to activities carried out during the candlelight procession.

He wrote: “Is this a candlelight procession? I think those who are sponsoring these so-called processions should have a rethink and gather their money to launch a foundation in honour of Mohbad if they mean business.

“This incident won’t snowball to any anarchy in Nigeria. If that’s their plan or game, it won’t work.”

Recall that some of those who participated in the late singer’s procession converged at the Lekki Toll Gate after the event ended at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.

Police operatives resulted in using teargas cannisters to disperse the crowd at the facility.
