In order to track government projects around the nation, the federal government recently inaugurated the Presidential Delivery Tracks (PDT) and Central Delivery Coordinating Unit (CDCU) websites.

The action was taken to enhance the monitoring of public projects.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha said the CDCU was launched in 2019 in order to fulfill the nine main goals of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government while speaking during the unveiling at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

By giving citizens easier access to the Federal Government’s presidential priority policies, programs, and projects, the PDT/CDCU App strives to connect citizens to governance in Nigeria.

“The PDT/objective CDCU’s is to provide access to reporting on presidential priority policies, programs, and initiatives while fostering transparency.

By including citizens as the third tier of reporting, citizens are able to provide crucial information that will help with efficient service delivery. The Federal Government’s delivery initiative to incorporate a systematic feedback mechanism from the citizens into the design and operationalization of its Performance Management System was successfully led by the PDT/CDCU over the previous two years.

Mustapha stated, “This is in acknowledgement of the crucial responsibilities played by citizens in advancing inclusive and citizen-centered governance.

The SGF also listed the following priority areas: macroeconomic stabilization; achieving agriculture and food security; ensuring energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products; improving transportation and other infrastructure; promoting industrialization with a focus on SMEs; enhancing social inclusion and reducing poverty; combating corruption and improving governance; and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

Mustapha added that the “Residents App” and the website were created with the intention of enabling citizens to, among other things, report accurately and offer feedback on the execution of government initiatives and programs in their communities.

When discussed with the public, he added, “The CDCU seeks to enable citizens to make their opinions heard, establish a citizens engagement programme that works, and participation that improves benefits.”

Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning Zainab Ahmed described the website as a mobile monitoring software for citizens that enables them to provide real-time input on project implementation with the goal of fostering public accountability.

She asserts that the gadget will also enhance the provision of services by all government agencies, particularly given the significance of public accountability in service delivery to both the functioning of government agencies and the economy of the country.

“In fact, it may be persuasively argued that the economic health of every nation depends, to a great measure, on the strength, integrity, and complexity of its institutions as well as on its responsibility to public services,” she stated.

As a result, efforts are being made to encourage public accountability and enhance service delivery in government institutions.

Additionally, Dr. Chris Pycroft, Director of Foreign Commonwealth and Development, stated that if programs are not carried out, officials and contractors should be subject to penalties or fines.

He praised the Federal Government for carrying out the project in Nigeria successfully.

“The Presidential Delivery Tracker marks a significant advancement in the accountability and transparency of government operations. The government’s initiative to expand the governance space has a major ally in the United Kingdom (UK).

The three layers of government should support this project since it is admirable. It is crucial that individuals demand action if government initiatives are not completed in addition to offering comments on how they are being carried out, the official said.
