Flood/ Lawmaker Donate Relief Materials to victims in His Constituency.

YENAGOA/ As part of efforts to provide succour to persons affected by flood, the member representing Kolokuma/Opokokuma at the Bayelsa Stats House of Assembly Hon. Tonye Isenah has donated relief materials to his constituents

The donation, worth several thousands of naira, food items, hundreds of treated mosquito nets was presented to various communities in his constituency and a medical team was sent to the various communities.

Presenting the relief materials, Hon. Isenah said he deemed it fit to come to their aid and commiserate with them in the face of the unfortunate disaster which he said had forced them from their homeland. He further said, “My donation is not anyway a compensation for your huge losses, as only God who destines the disaster is capable of doing that. The lawmaker said he has reported the incident to the state government with a view to getting more relief material for the victims. He said ” I have also written to the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA for its prompt action.”

He thanked God for sparing their lives assuring that they would soon return to their homes as the flood will not last forever.

Receiving the materials, the chiefs and members of the camps, thanked the member and his team for their kind gesture.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the donation, Hon. Tonye Isenah, thank the government of Bayelsa state lead by Hon. Henry Dickson for constituting a committee to reach out to flood victims. As the same time he called on the federal Government, private sector, affluent citizens and religious organizations to increase assistance to those affected as they have a lot of needs.

He urged the federal Government not to repeat what happened in 2012 during a similar situation when some of the promises made were not fulfilled.

One of the persons affected by the flood, Mrs. Tina Jonah expressed gratitude to Hon. Isenah for remembering them in their condition and prayed God to replenish his pockets in hundredfolds.
