Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has come under fire from Prince Uche Secondus, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for threatening to crush anyone who associates with him (Secondus).
Secondus, a previous ally of the governor of Rivers State, is apparently supporting Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate who is now at odds with Wike, in his bid for the presidency.

Remember that he was removed from office in August 2021 as a result of many court rulings that forbade him from continuing to serve as the party’s national chairman.

In an earlier report from Track News, Wike was quoted as saying that anyone working with Secondus is an enemy of the state and that he will battle anyone who opposes him during the ceremonial groundbreaking for internal roads on Saturday in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The governor of Rivers State claims that Secondus was fired as the party’s national chairman due of his underwhelming performance.

“If somebody attacks our system, we will fight back,” he had stated.

“Let me tell you something about politics that you don’t comprehend. When you say you’re working with us but then the next day switch to our opponent, we’ll use every force at our disposal—we’ll even abandon our enemy—to finish you off first.

I’ll get to every last one of you who is returning to Abuja to meet with our adversaries in the state.

“We ousted the Chairman of the National Party who was not doing well. We all agreed that since they were all present, they should go to Abuja to meet with the person we had to have removed. They believe that if they do, we will defeat them.

The former PDP chairman responded in a statement released by his media assistant, Ike Abonyi, by claiming that Wike is not God and lacks the authority to subdue anyone.

In favor of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, Secondus declared that his attention had been “drew to the haughty and disdainful threat from Governor Nyesom Wike that he will smash anybody who works with him (Secondus) in that regard.”

Prince Secondus simply said, “You cannot crush anybody, I cannot fight, only God can crush,” in response to the meaningless threat.

Secondus also reminded Wike of the words of wisdom offered by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, who cautioned public officials that “no condition is permanent,” emphasizing that no one could hold the office of president or governor of a state indefinitely.
