IGP bans Ebubeagu, vigilante groups, restricts vehicular movement in Imo, Kogi, Bayelsa
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles and transportation via waterways in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa. These restrictions will take effect starting from Friday.
Egbetokun’s decision aligns with measures aimed at ensuring transparent, fair, and credible elections in these three states. Additionally, he has prohibited state security outfits such as Ebubeagu and other similar entities from conducting operations during this period.
During an ongoing press briefing at the Force Headquarters, the IGP disclosed that both marine and gunboats have been deployed in these states, given their riverine terrain. The security apparatus in these regions has been further bolstered with various equipment, including helicopters for aerial patrols.
