The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has suspended Kingsley Kanu, the younger brother of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB claimed that Kanu was suspended for working against its interest.

His suspension was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the group in Germany, Collins Chinedu.

The statement said Kanu indulged in a series of anti-IPOB activities targeted at bringing the group in Germany to disrepute.

The separatist group accused Kanu of insubordination, constituting a parallel leadership in Germany and violating IPOB’s code of conduct.

Stressing that Kingsley Kanu was just an ordinary member of IPOB in Germany, IPOB said the accused was using his affiliation with its leader to gain “unmerited super advantage.”

IPOB said Kanu was placing himself above all the rules of the group.

“The lPOB leadership in Germany unanimously suspends Kingsley indefinitely from the family of IPOB in Germany led by Nnamdi Kanu with effect from today, the 21st of January 2023,” the statement said.

IPOB specifically accused Kingsley of “Imposing and parading an expelled IPOB member, Ogbenna Abraham as the new National Coordinator in Germany with the sole intent to cause division within the existing structure in Germany”.

The group said Kingsley must understand that the Biafra struggle is beyond anybody’s affiliation with its leader, Kanu.

“Mr Kingsley Kanu must, therefore, be reminded that further violations of the code of conduct will have serious legal consequences,” IPOB warned.
