JUST IN: Nigerian military kills ISWAP commander

In Borno State’s Sambisa forest, military airstrikes over the weekend killed Fiya Ba Yuram, the ISWAP leader, and many other terrorists.

When illegal activity was noticed in the region being utilized as a training camp, Track News learned that similar airstrikes were launched in Tunbun Madayi, a town close to Lake Chad.

After Abubakar Shekau, the head of Boko Haram, was killed in May 2021, Fiya Yuram assumed control of ISWAP.

Security personnel reportedly attacked as the terrorists were assembling for an unspecified purpose.

Nigeria’s military is attempting to put an end to a 13-year insurgency in the nation’s northeast that has been led by armed organizations like Boko Haram and its branch, ISWAP. Over 40,000 people have died as a result, while 2.2 million more have been displaced.

When Boko Haram captured large areas of northern Borno and proclaimed a “caliphate,” they took control of Bama.

After heavy ground and aerial operations that lasted for several months, Nigerian troops with the help of Chadian troops managed to retake the majority of the area in March 2015. The activities have not stopped.
